Join the University of New Mexico’s Lobo Aquathlon weekend, April 18–19, 2026, based at Johnson Field on UNM’s campus. This year’s event is an Aquathlon due to campus construction, and the races will follow a “reverse” format: run first, then swim. Kids Aquathlon (ages 1–15) takes place Saturday, April 18 at 8:00 a.m., and the Adult Aquathlon takes place Sunday, April 19 at 8:00 a.m. The adult course includes a 2-mile run around UNM (Redondo area) and a 400m swim in the UNM Seidler Natatorium. Expect a fun, supportive race atmosphere with finisher medals for all participants and age group awards. Proceeds support UNM HESS youth programming and graduate student travel.
New Mexico Roots Music Summit – April 19 in Santa Fe
The New Mexico Roots Music Summit will take place Saturday, April 19 at 9:00 a.m. at Queen Bee Music Association in Santa Fe. The event features panels and discussions for independent musicians on topics including touring, songwriting, and career development, along with a community lunch (included in ticket price.)
The day concludes with a public open mic at 3:00 p.m. at El Rey Court, featuring performances by summit participants that the public is welcome to attend.

On Wednesday, April 15, join the New Mexico Bach Society at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation for a program full of selected arias and sinfonias from Bach’s cantatas, oratorios, passions, and instrumental repertoire, including the first movement of his Concerto for Oboe in A Major. Audiences will also help welcome in the spring season with Antonio Vivaldi’s ever familiar, The Four Seasons.

Almost Adults Productions based in Santa Fe, NM will present People Have the Power 2.0, a short play program inspired by the Patti Smith/Fred Smith song April 11th and 18th at 7:30 pm and April 12th and 19th at 2 pm. This 90-minute program of 7 short plays is about social activists making a difference in their communities and therefore the world at large, told with irreverence, humor, drama, and pathos. Topics include labor, immigration, disability justice, LGBTQIA rights, and mental health.

Reingold is a celebrated playwright and writer for television having co-created shows such as In Treatment and The Good Fight.

Santa Fe Community College’s Library and Creative Writing program present the free online Spring 2026 Writing Generation (Wri-Gen) Series beginning Feb. 18 led by esteemed authors. Each author will read at an introductory session. In a follow-up Zoom meeting the author will engage the participants in a writing exercise/creative session.

At the end of the semester participants will have an opportunity to share their work during the final Zoom session on May 6. Registrants will receive a Zoom link via email the morning of each event.

Braver Angels, an organization committed to bringing together people on opposing sides of an issue to discuss differences in a civil and non-judgmental way, will be holding a debate on Saturday, April 25, at Santa Fe Community college, West Wing, Rm 212. The topic: Artificial Intelligence; the resolution: Artificial Intelligence will strengthen human progress. Braver Angels debates do not declare a winner at the conclusion. Rather, we focus on giving voice to all sides of an issue to broaden our knowledge and increase our understanding. Also, you don’t have to be an expert to participate. We welcome any and all opinions.
