KSFR exists to provide information, entertainment, and enrichment to individuals living in our coverage area, and to amplify under-represented voices in Northern New Mexico communities.
KSFR broadcasts in an exceptionally diverse and culturally rich area. Toward our commitment to provide the best possible coverage of our varied communities, KSFR strongly encourages people of all ages, ethnicities, abilities, and backgrounds to apply for both paid and volunteer positions, on air and behind the scenes. We employ a small number of full- and part-time staff, as well as a handful of freelancers, to prepare and broadcast the news, talk, and music programming you hear every day on KSFR. But our small, dedicated staff can’t do it alone. We rely on dozens of volunteers who work in every area of our operation to ensure the excellence of the service we provide to our listeners. Many of these volunteers have been involved at KSFR for years, some for more than two decades. Their passion for KSFR is the greatest measure of our success. Conventional wisdom warns against trying to be everything to everyone, but we know there’s an exception when it comes to community public radio. At KSFR, we feel it is important that you hear yourself reflected in our programming, and we believe there will always be room to grow and improve our relationships within Northern New Mexico communities. We gratefully welcome our community's help in accomplishing these goals. KSFR is committed to providing a safe, sensitive, and adaptive environment for employees and volunteers of all backgrounds. We believe people do their best work when their interests are engaged, their assumptions are challenged, and their identities are supported and celebrated. We pledge to do our utmost to facilitate contributions by community members at varied levels of experience and ability. We invite all members of our community to choose from among the opportunities for engagement already offered at KSFR, or to write to us to discuss other ways in which you may become involved.
