The Bopera House takes its name from The Royal Roost (aka, The Metropolitan Bopera House), a restaurant / jazz club in midtown Manhattan back in the late 40’s where live performances were broadcast over the airwaves, showcasing the likes of Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk and many more of the pioneers of Be Bop. While the music I play every Monday morning may not be live in the studio, it certainly comes alive in full spirit of those historical broadcasts back in the heyday of Bebop.
