Tom Seibel

Producer/Host "Classic Country Corner"

After a lifetime of listening to radio and being an amateur radio operator in my teens, I was introduced into the on-air show part of radio by Ron Hale, who back in 2013, invited me to occasionally help produce and accompany him as a DJ on the Acoustic Explorations show. After a few shows I was bitten by the bug and realized that I really enjoyed sharing my music with listeners. I ended up occasionally sitting in for the other producer/DJs of Acoustic Explorations, and in 2018 Tom Adler handed me his fifth Thursday of the month show segment. Beginning in February of 2022, Ron Hale handed off to me his segment of the Thursday night show. In 2023 I launched Classic Country Corner and have been enjoying producing these shows each week.

I was born in Nebraska, raised mostly in rural farming/ranching areas of California. During my early childhood and youth in the ‘50s and early ‘60s, I remember hearing all kinds of music on the radio, TV and live venues. The music that stuck in my consciousness was the 1950s country-western and rock ‘n’ roll, the 1960s-70s folk music rebirth and my uncle’s barbershop quartet harmonies.

In California I attended U.C. Davis and later majored in Agricultural Crop Production at California State Polytechnic University. After having settled in New Mexico in 1971, I was a farmer, homesteader, and grain dealer for many years. During all that, I bought a fiddle on my 30th birthday, and after several lessons and lots of practice, I was able to play with several Bluegrass/Old Time groups in northern New Mexico. I’ve been in Santa Fe since 2004.
