New treatment for opioid addicts appears to be on the horizon. University of New Mexico health researchers have received a grant from the National Institutes of Health to develop a vaccine that would block the “high” of someone abusing opioids. The goal is to help people quit using opioids and stay clean. Researcher Dr. Kathyrn Frietze is leading the project.
