The Bébé La La Band at Unit B!
Albuquerque’s multi–award-winning Indie Folk Français duo, Bébé La La, brings their music to Unit B by Chocolate Maven in Santa Fe for the first time! Featuring singer-songwriter, guitarist, violist Alicia Ultan and singer-songwriter and accordionist Maryse Lapierre, Bébé La La was formed in 2010 by Ultan and Lapierre, who found a great compatibility between Lapierre’s French-Canadian influences and Ultan’s original folk-rock “art” songs. Their richly textured music, highlighted by their signature stunning vocal harmonies and thoughtful, intelligent lyrics, is delivered with a warm, charming stage presence that keeps their audiences coming back time and again. Music and art critic James Mahoney described Bébé La La as “Wild—Alternative—Magic,” likening their sound to opening a new deck of Tarot cards filled with vital mystery and authentic emotion,” while Mel Minter of Musically Speaking praised their 2022 release, A Curious Series of Unexpected Events, for its inescapable melodies and beguiling interlocking vocals. Celebrating 15 years of performing and recording together this year, Bébé La La has earned multiple New Mexico Music Awards recognitions, including two awards each for their debut release, High Wire (2015) and A Curious Series of Unexpected Events (2022) – which also received seven nominations. In November 2025, they marked their 15-year anniversary with a sold-out concert at the Outpost Performance Space in Abq. Joined by their bassist/guitarist Micky Patten and drummer Joe Chellman, this concert will also feature guest saxophonist, Jeremy Harris and guitarist Laura DiMauro.
