Spring Prism - Santa Fe Community Orchestra Free Concert

Spring Prism - Santa Fe Community Orchestra Free Concert

Join the SFCO for an afternoon of two powerful orchestral works exploring transcendent themes amid glorious waves of sound.

Featuring

Christopher Theofanidis - Rainbow Body

Jean Sibelius - Symphony no 1 in E Minor, Op. 39

William Reese Waag - Conductor

Rainbow Body by Christopher Theofanidis is an orchestral reflection on a medieval chant by Hildegard von Bingen, weaving a shimmering tapestry of harmonic color. Inspired by the Tibetan Buddhist idea of spiritual transcendence, this vibrant piece unfolds in waves of radiant sound, culminating in a triumphant conclusion.

Jean Sibelius’s Symphony No. 1 in E Minor combines the influence of late-Romantic tradition with a strong sense of Finnish identity, evident in its sweeping themes and poignant lyricism. From the hushed, solitary clarinet opening to the stormy, triumphant finale, the work takes listeners on a stirring journey of Nordic grandeur and emotional depth.

The concert is free of charge and tickets are not required. Further information can be found at sfco.org.
