In honor of the centennial burning of Zozobra, the museum debuts an exhibition highlighting the history of so-called “Old Man Gloom,” providing historical context, and exploring the event’s origins, evolution, and broader significance. The exhibit features artistic depictions and historic ephemera, as well as items on loan from community members.

Join the New Mexico History Museum for a special opening event on Aug. 23 featuring a performance by Moving Arts Española at 5:15 p.m., welcome remarks at 5:45 p.m., and a screening of "Zozobra: 100 Years of Fire and Redemption," a documentary produced by the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe in the auditorium at 6:15 p.m. New Mexico residents are free with ID. Non-residents are $12. Free to children 16 and younger.
