The old Atomic Energy Commission hatched Operation Plowshare in the nineteen sixties as a way to use nuclear materials for good.  Some ideas were preposterous, like blowing a hole in the Alaska coast to create a harbor, others were pushed by oil and gas production companies as a way to release natural gas from underground rock. KSFR's Ellen Lockyer brings us this story about the little-known Project Gasbuggy.
