Wolff on "Why Capitalism Creates Socialism" in this exclusive 4-part interview series. The series looks at exactly how socialism works, why it became demonized during the post World War II era, is now gaining popularity along and why it's an inevitable outcropping of capitalism's own inherent flaws. In this part, he discusses the interest that capitalists have in swaying public opinion due to the fact that they make up the minority of employers compared to the vast numbers of employees. He references the famous line judgement experiment by Soloman Asch in the role that peer pressure plays in moving people's opinions away from even their own inherent empirical knowledge. This is also why he states we have elections that require huge amounts of money which by default and intentionally leave the little guy out. He also cites President Trump as the perfect poster child for capitalism. He is very good at pandering to the legitimate anger created by the flaws of the current system, allowing it to be expressed yet redirecting it to irrelevant emotionally charged targets that only distract from the real issues at hand, the failures of capitalism.
