Carly Newfeld, author and educator, grew up in England and has been an avid reader since she was seven year’s old and had to sneak into the boys’ room of her local library to get to the children’s science fiction section.
Her life and work includes nearly a decade in Scotland pioneering the now world renowned eco-village, Findhorn Foundation. Five years in London recording injustice as a staff editor for Amnesty International, and then developing a program for Buckminster Fuller’s world peace model, Planetary Citizens.
Her radio work began in 1994 with the Piñon Award nominated Connections on KVSF and later co-creating The Journey Home on KSFR with former husband, Santa Fe’s loved and much-missed Diego Mulligan who died in 2013. Carly and Diego co-hosted TJH until they amicably divorced “practically live on the air” in late 1999. Afterwards, Carly hosted Saturday’s Goddess Radio on KSFR for seven years and took a break from radio to work in education with middle and high schoolers. She is the mother of two grown children and grandmother of three.
