Carly Newfeld

Carly Newfeld, author and educator, has produced and hosted “The Last Word: Conversations with Writers“ since 2019. She grew up in England and has revered books since she was seven years old when she was disciplined by a Victorian-era librarian for requesting science fiction books from the boys’ section of the library.

Her life and work includes nearly a decade in Scotland pioneering the world-renowned eco-village at Findhorn. Five years in London documenting injustice as a staff editor for Amnesty International, and then developing an outreach program for Buckminster Fuller’s, Planetary Citizens, recognized by the United Nations as a model for world peace.

Her radio work began in 1994 with the award-nominated “Connections” on KVSF and going on to co-host KSFR’s drive-time show, “The Journey Home” with former husband, Santa Fe’s much-missed Diego Mulligan. Carly went on to host Saturday morning’s, “Goddess Radio” for seven years and took a break from radio to focus on her work in education with middle and high schoolers. She has a daughter and a son and is the grandmother of two boys.
