March 5 - Albuquerque Art Exhibit Showcases Works by Incarcerated Women

March is Women’s History Month, celebrated in Albuquerque as Women and Creativity Month. To commemorate the occasion, the Southwest Women’s Law Project and the Bernalillo County Department of Cultural Affairs teamed up to create an exhibition of art by women inmates. Detainees at the Metropolitan Corrections Center and the Juvenile Detention Center contributed works of art to the exhibition titled UNCONFINED: Empowering Women through Art. The exhibit opens this weekend at the African American Performing Arts Center in Albuquerque. KSFR’s Kate Powell talked to Nan Masland, Bernalillo County Public Art Project Coordinator. Listen Here
