Jan. 29 - Hector Balderas Releases 2013 Behavioral Health Audit

In his first major press conference, new Attorney General Hector Balderas today released a long-withheld report on the investigation into alleged Medicaid billing fraud by New Mexico behavioral health providers. Governor Susana Martinez last year fired numerous NM behavioral health providers and replaced them with Arizona businesses. The results of the 2013 audit were not disclosed to the accused health care providers. None of the allegations have yet been proven against the NM providers and at least one of the Arizona businesses has already closed its offices in southern NM leaving clients stranded again. At Noon we heard from KSFR’s Deborah Martinez about the human consequences of interruptions in behavioral health care. Click Here for a podcast of that interview.
